Everything you need to know about the Imperial Rajasthan Tour β answered by our Rajasthan heritage travel specialists.
The Imperial Rajasthan Tour covers three of India's most iconic royal cities β Jodhpur (the Blue City), Jaisalmer (the Golden City), and Udaipur (the City of Lakes). Each destination offers a completely distinct character: Jodhpur's towering Mehrangarh Fort, Jaisalmer's golden sandstone living fort, and Udaipur's serene lake palaces and City Palace museum.
All inter-city travel is by private luxury road transfer β either a dedicated Toyota Innova Crysta/Fortuner (Palace Chauffeur SUV tier) or an Audi Q7/Mercedes GLE (Royal Palace Suite tier). The scenic drives across the Thar Desert are a spectacular part of the experience, with golden sand dunes, ancient temples, and remote villages along the way.
Yes β the Thar Desert experience at Sujan The Serai luxury camp is a centrepiece of this tour. It includes a private camel safari into the Sam Sand Dunes, a champagne sunset on the dunes, traditional Rajasthani folk music and dance around the bonfire, and world-class astronomer-guided stargazing with high-end telescopes under a perfectly dark desert sky.
Our flagship accommodation includes Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur (still a royal residence, rated among the world's finest hotels), Sujan The Serai desert camp in Jaisalmer, and the legendary Taj Lake Palace in Udaipur β a white marble island palace floating on Lake Pichola. Each is a once-in-a-lifetime stay in its own right.
Yes, absolutely. Our camels are well-trained, calm, and handled by experienced mahouts. The safari is conducted in the late afternoon (5β7 pm) when temperatures are comfortable and the light is golden. For those preferring not to ride, a private jeep can follow the route alongside the camel caravan. The safari lasts approximately 45β60 minutes into the dunes.
October to February is the prime season β days are warm and pleasant (18β28Β°C), nights are cool, and the forts and palaces shine in clear winter light. The Pushkar Camel Fair (November) and Jaisalmer Desert Festival (February) fall in this window. MarchβApril is also lovely with spring colour. Summers (MayβJune) are very hot in the Thar Desert, so we recommend avoiding them.
Daily gourmet breakfasts are included across all tiers. Premium tiers include three curated palace dinners β including a private rooftop dinner overlooking Mehrangarh Fort and a sunset dinner on the lake barge in Udaipur. VIP fast-track entry tickets to Mehrangarh Fort, Jaisalmer Fort, Udaipur City Palace, and all major monuments are pre-booked and included.
Absolutely β popular extensions include Jaipur (Amber Fort, Rambagh Palace, City Palace), Ranthambore National Park (Bengal tiger safari), Bikaner (Junagarh Fort), or the Pushkar sacred lake and Brahma Temple. All extensions are fully curated, seamlessly appended to the itinerary, and quoted separately. Speak to your travel designer at booking.
