Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Himalayan Sanctuary Tour β€” answered by our Kashmir and Shimla travel experts.

Yes β€” this is a 100% land-based package. All inter-city travel is by private luxury SUV (Toyota Fortuner) with a dedicated chauffeur throughout. There are no helicopter transfers, no domestic flights, and no aviation segments of any kind. The road journeys through the Himalayan foothills are themselves a highlight of the experience.

Our curated Dal Lake houseboats are floating luxury residences β€” hand-carved walnut wood interiors, Persian carpets, en-suite bedrooms, and a private deck for sunrise views over the Zabarwan mountains. You are ferried between shore and houseboat by a private Shikara. The experience is completely serene and utterly unlike any hotel stay.

Yes β€” VIP skip-the-line tickets for the Gulmarg Gondola (Phase 1 & Phase 2) are pre-booked and included in the Royal Suite & SUV package. The gondola is one of the world's highest cable cars, climbing to Apharwat Peak at 4,200m. The panoramic views of the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges are extraordinary in every season.

April to June is peak season β€” Kashmir is in full bloom with cherry blossoms, tulip gardens, and warm sunny days. September to November brings golden autumnal chinar trees and clear mountain skies. December to February is magical for snow lovers, with Gulmarg offering pristine powder skiing. We advise avoiding the heavy monsoon period of July–August in Shimla.

Absolutely. All our packages are quoted for 2 Adults as a base configuration. We scale gracefully for families of 4, 6, or larger groups with upgraded vehicles (Tempo Travellers), connecting houseboat suites, and adjusted itinerary pacing. Contact our curators for a tailored group quote.

The overland route from Pahalgam to Shimla (via Jammu and Chandigarh) covers approximately 650–700 km and takes around 12–14 hours including meal breaks. We typically divide this into a comfortable two-segment journey with an overnight halt, or plan an early departure with a specially curated en-route lunch stop in the Kangra Valley. Your vehicle will be fully stocked with refreshments.

For spring/summer: light layers, a waterproof jacket, comfortable walking shoes, and UV protection. For winter visits: heavy thermals, down jackets, gloves, and snow boots (especially for Gulmarg). Prescription medications, sunscreen, and an offline map app are recommended. Our pre-tour concierge pack includes a personalised packing checklist based on your travel dates.

Kashmir Valley and Shimla are established, popular tourist destinations visited by hundreds of thousands of domestic and international guests every year. The main tourist circuits (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Dal Lake, and Shimla Mall Road) are well-maintained and peaceful. Our local team monitors conditions in real time and we include 24/7 ground support throughout your journey.
